Saw on another site where a guy changed his APPS. and it stopped his random missing. Could someone enlighten me as to what this is and where it is located? MAYBE this would keep me from having to buy a pump but I dout it.

Accellerator Pedal Position Sensor or (TPS)Throttle Position Sensor. It is located on drivers side front of engine, right above the Injection Pump. I have heard of others cleaning with contact cleaners and getting some improvement. I know you can adjust the voltage to bring it into spec.(even though the manual says you can't)
Other than that the best advice I can give is get a service manual for your truck.
