Anyone running those H4 conversion lights on their 83-86?

I'm planning on putting a set of those in this spring along with reworking all of the light wiring. I was going to get all of my parts from LMC Truck. I'm also interested in other's experiences.

I'm running H4 conversions in my truck, but not those. Mine are E-code assemblies that accept an H4 bulb and have a European-spec lens instead of a DOT lens. I've had these for about a year and a half now, and am really happy with them. After I do the headlight relay mod, I'm going to put higher-wattage bulbs, and the difference should be even more dramatic.

The big thing with the European lens is that it is made to focus the light on the road, and at the same time doesn't put out as much light above the 1/2 way mark on low-beam, so you aren't blinding oncoming drivers...it's difficult to explain, and I can't readily find a picture...

Hmm. I've never messed with my lights because I personally can't stand being blinded by the blue eyed blinders. I have rode in a car with them (audi) and yep, sure can see alot!!! Guess I need european lenses (cough, where )

BTW, they are NOT blue lights...I hate those as well. The H4 bulbs are standard incandescents...although you can get HID cnversions for H4's if you so wish (but, they're really expensive and not worth it IMHO)...

Guess I need to read better... Bookmarked that. Prices were decent, too! I didn't realize that H4s weren't blue sounds good.

FWIW, I've got H4 conversions on both my 84 Toyota pickup and my 87 Toyota Supra Turbo. (They're the same lense size as the older Fords, from what I'm told...)

I'm happy with the lenses and the increased light output. Some of the guys at work tried them with an upgraded harness and 100/120W bulbs, but found that the higher light output bulbs caused the lenses to crack from the heat. They were also going through bulbs more often due to the increased heat. I've always just run 55W Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in mine and have had no problems. Very slight blue tint, but nothing like the late-model HID headlamps.

I'm looking into a set of the newer Euro-style lenses for my 92 F250, as my stockers are yellowing badly from age, and polishing them just won't turn them clear anymore...

H4 oe E code replacement lenses

I believe that the european lenses are mandatory for anyone who actually drives at night in an area where you *need* headlights. If you are using the headlights to see, rather than only to be seen, you won't believe how much better they are than DOT lenses. I replace the lenses in all my vehicles with them immediately after purchase. They are especially nice in foggy oe misty conditions (which is a lot her in Seattle).

I've run replacements for a lot of years. The best bulb for on road use is the 55/100 watt. The 55 watt low beam works fine and when you hit the 100 watt high beams you can really see. If you're going to spend the money then buy good glass{cibie, marchal, carillo, piaa, hella} the off brand stuff just isn't as good. Steve
