Did you get a chance to see the video? Do you mean just tightening down the bolts and seeing if that works? Is there a proper sequence? Thanks. You might get away with a retorque. Just a thought. Especially if you don't have water in the oil.
Yeah, I saw the video.Did you get a chance to see the video? Do you mean just tightening down the bolts and seeing if that works? Is there a proper sequence? Thanks.
I really hope this is an optionYeah, I saw the video.
And yeah, there's a 3 stage sequence to torquing the heads. For a retorque, you'd back them out like a quarter turn and then torque as usual. If you do put on new head gaskets, you have to retorque after a thousand miles........I didn't the first time I did head gaskets and found out the hard way that retourquing is important.
I think it's worth a shot, but wait for some of the other guys to chime in. They might know something I don't, but originally your post was "I got leaking head gaskets, I gotta pull the engine". After watching that video, the other guys might have some more wisdom to share!
I second this after watching the video. You might get away with a retorque. Just a thought. Especially if you don't have water in the oil.
Nice, so the head studs can be accessed by pulling the valve covers right? What is the tightening sequence if any?I second this after watching the video.
I believe that this is right. You will have to pull the rockers.
Is there anything special to removing and replacing these besides proper torque? Do they have to go back to their original location etc?I believe that this is right.
They "should" go back to the original spot so that the wear matches the wear on the push rods. That part is extremely easy. All you have to do is flip the valve covers upside down, set them on the side that they came off of, and then put the rocker arms inside of them in the order of their placement on the engine.Do they have to go back to their original location etc?
Thanks where do I drain the oil out from? First time doing this. You'll also need to bleed the oil out of the cam followers, as they won't compress when you take the rockers off. Super easy to do, take the retainer clip out, drain oil, put back together.
There is a spring keeper on the top of it, where the ball end of the push tube sits. Take it out, take the spool out, pour the oil out. Put back together. Make sure they all go back in the same position and orientation they came out. Thanks where do I drain the oil out from? First time doing this.
