Anybody mess with a body lift?

For anyone that has done this with a manual trans what did you do for a 3 inch body lift about making the boot fit back on?

I don't know for sure but certain lift kits might come with a piece to extend the shifter. If not I would think a 3" extension could be made up that would bolt on at the transmission and then the gear shifter would bolt back on to the extension. I had a 3" body lift on a 90 f150 once but it was an automatic. I have considered doing a body lift just for the clearance around the engine but I don't really need one for the tire clearance so I think it would be pointless for my truck.

Also on the lift I did it did come with a 3" piece for the transfer case and I had it cut in half and the 3" extension welded in its place to make that longer.

I looked up 3" body lifts on summit today and both the summit brand and the performance accesories brands state that they "will NOT" work with diesel powered models anyone had any problems with this?

I did do a 3" body on my old Ranger with a 5-speed and I did have to purchase a seperate shift extension piece to get everything to fit up right.

The only reason I can think of that they say it won't work on diesels is because of the radiator. But the body isn't any different on our trucks than a gas.

That was my thinking too.

It says it won't work with a diesel because the engine and firewall meet, the firewall is curved around the drivers side head, the 300-6 has a problem with the intake manifold meeting this curve. a hammer will fix it.

I'm running several body lifts. All are 2" or less. A 3" is going to be trouble where the engine meets the cab. You'll see..... other than that, there is no problem using it.

for the shifter boot in my 96 I had to cut the floor back some more and over to one side to get the boot to work. also cut the top rig that locked to the shifter off and slid the boot up on the stick

Mine already has a 3 inch lift but my shifter boot won't work and I'm trying to keep it quieter inside the cab I had a shop try to do it but he did it wrong...

With both 3-inches and then 2-inches under my 1985 with T-19, I didn't have to do anything about the shifter-boot.

When I installed the Cummins/5-speed, I had to trim the hole aft about two inches.

I cut a new shifter-hole in a piece of tread-brite, screwed this to the floor, and screwed the boot to that.
