anybody ever do fiberglass

There is a company, I don't know who, but Doug Bensen would know, that referbishes the dash pads. Basically vacuum forms a new skin on them. If you could find out who that is, it may be possible to have a new skin formed over the whole dash including the mod, to give it a truely factory look.

i'll have to try that. on an aside, do i need to primer this or do anything to it prior to painting? these are after final sanding. it looks bad, but the blends are good, after painting i don't think it will be noticeable.

Yes you need to primer it. The filler may bleed through if you dont. Man I worked in the fiberglass industry a few years working with this stuff day in day out, I may have to try something like this since I got loads of fiberglass and gallons of resin.

Are you planning to paint the whole dash?

If so Remember to clean everything real good. I would use a primer that works on plastic and fiberglass, which should be just about anything.

just the area, then blend with vinyl paint to the rest of the dash

you would prob be able to tell a difference in the area where your gauges are and the rest of the dash because of that coat of paint

update

so i've finally got some more work done on this. man it's problematic the way life gets in the way of projects . here it is in its first coat of primer. i sanded all the dash down, now i don't have any wrinkles on it . first coat of sandable primer. hows it look? i plan on trying to hide the "cracks" with more filler. they appeared after i used my air compressor to get rid of any dust prior to painting, they showed up after i started to paint and could see them

Fix those small cracks and blend it in a little better on the pass. side and that will look factory
