1985 F-350.

On the left front fender, back near the firewall, just behind the hood hinge pivot-point, sort of tucked under a lip, inside the fender, is an approximately 1-1/4" square electrical device, with a taped-up bunch of wires plugged in the bottom of it.

What is this and what service does it perform??

Thanks.

The trailer tow relay?

Give that man a cigar!!

I had no clue what it was.

I have pulled trailers, ever since I owned the truck, about twenty years, and the trailer lights have always been on a dedicated circuit, completely independent of the shoddy factory wiring.

That thing has been going along for the ride all these years, and I had no clue what it was.

If this truck ever had a factory trailer-lighting system, I never knew it.

Thanks.

I'll guess too- How about the relay to power up the computer on a model equipped with an E40D? I think I remember having it go on me in PA late one night.

If I hooked my trailer lights into that flimsy looking little thing, with those little bitty wires, it would melt in minutes.

If a person were desperate enough to want to use that relay, where is the trailer light pigtail connection at??

I just noticed the thing hanging there, and didn't know what it was.

Thanks.

There wasn't much left of mine and I've eliminated my trucks ability to tow anyway. I think I had a round six pole connector in the bumper. There was a whole extra harness for it.
