I've been trying to keep tabs on anything posted about the seats in these trucks. I need to change mine out. I have to admit, that I've only managed to get myself confused up to this point, and now I need some help. I still have to replace my water pump (already have it, just need the time to do it), and I need to remount my front bumper. After that I'll be gearing up to replace the seat.

My biggest requirement is that the drivers side and the passenger side seats adjust independatly. My 2 year old daughter rides in the back seat, and she can no longer fit between the car seat and the back of the bench seat. I'm 6'2" and I drive with the seat almost all the way back. My wife is 5'4" and she would have a tone of room to scoot forward if she could.

Beyond that, I'd like to have some kind of 60/40 seat system where the center will raise up for a 3rd person if needed. My German short haired pointer likes to ride there now :) It would be a big plus if that center section had a lockable storage compartment.

What are my options? I have a bridgeport mill and a crappy smithy lathe, and I can do a fair amount of fabrication, but welding becomes an issue. I have access to a stick welder and a 110v mig, but I'd rather use nuts and bolts.

Thanks,
Mark

Go to the salvage Yard and get the buckets, seatbelts, and console out of any 92-96 SCab.

But, get the mounting pan too. There's a sheet metal pan that the seats/console bolt to, then the pan bolts to the floor. It's Plug and Play.

If you can find a 40/20/40 split bench, it will have individually adjustable side seats and a flip down center console. I dont know if it locks though. If you can get one from a 92-96 F-series truck, it should bolt in place of your bench seat. It will most likely be power adjustable though so you may have to wire it up.

Hoss, did that require any special mounting brackets?

If I remember correctly, I've seen a wiring harness that runs up from under the cab. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be for power seats or not. I would have assumed that since I have a bench seat, there would be no wiring harness present on my truck.

Thanks for the replies so far. These sugestions would all work well. I just need to find something that isn't going to cost me a thousand dollars. Can't justify putting that much into the vehicles that I drive.

Thanks,
Mark

I have a set of Eddie Bauer seats from a 96 super cab in my truck with the 40/20/40 and I love them. They unbolt independently, not on a single pan like the crews or single cabs. Each component comes out by themselves, easy to do.

When I was looking to replace the seats in my truck I had a hard time finding a 92-96 that was the right color/style and in good shape.
There were tons of 97+ F150s at most of the scrap yards but I didn't wanna buy them and then not be able to mount them in.

How hard is it to get a set of newer F150 seats or even some second gen dodge seats fit in one of our trucks?

Now that's a good question. Hope someone has an answer.

I'm not too worried about the color or the condition. There's a place here in town that apparently does a really good job on that kind of stuff. I need to give them a call and see what the cost would be, but right now I'm just trying to figure out what kind of seats I should be looking for. The 92~96 info is good, but I'm also interested in finding out what else will fit with out too much effort.

Yea, I was hoping i could find a more solid way to mount newer seats other then a few inches of washers sitting there.

I put a 97 F150 bench seat in A 97 HD F250 reg cab. I used a piece 2" square tubing as a spacer between the bracket and the seat in the front. If you are REALLY tall it works perfect. IF not. you will be sitting low. But my buddy is 7' so it works good for him
