Today I removed the three Autolite glow plugs that I put in before I belonged to this group (after only 1 year all three of them showed swollen tips, thanks for the heads up on not using Autolites). I decided to change my air filter and when I pulled the air cleaner housing lid off, I noticed that it looked like there was some type of inner ring that had been cut off and ground flush. Is this a common modification? Everything on my truck seems to have been serviced very competently (recent radiator replacement included SCAs in the coolant, good filters, IP seems to be set up properly, etc) and this is the only thing that I've seen that doesn't appear to be stock.
Any thoughts?
