Please remember, this is not the drama stop.

Has anyone thought about re-sulphurizing fuel??

Could not one drop a big, yellow, bovine sulphur boluse (cow-pill) in a tank of diesel, to replace the beneficial sulphur that our ever-intelligent government has taken out??

We dump all sorts of expensive goodies in our tanks, in an effort to remedy our government's ignorance.

A fifty-nine cent sulphur pill, dissolved in the tank, would probably do more good.

no expert, but i think thats a bad idea, at least as presented: i have no idea if the addition of raw sulfur could be accomplished so that it mixed completly, even in a home-lab type setting, let alone a truck. i dont know if it is merely present in the fuel or in what manner it is bonded, as those would pose main issues....if im not mistaken the issue with the low sulfur is the lubricity of the fuel being somewhat diminished by the removal of sulfur. biodiesel has the same lubricating properties plus more than even full strength #2....i plan on combating the issue of ULSD using a B50 or more blend in my tanks. my .02

The lower sulpher is not the problem, sulpher is all bad and removing it is a good thing, the problem is the lubricating compounds that are removed with the sulpher during the refining process. The "expensive goodies" you dump in your tank now are probably the best solution.

I've taken a little different view on the sulphur in the fuel idea this past week because of an experience that I had... While backing the waverunner in the water I have to submerge the tail pipe of my truck, well I have to shut the truck off because other wise it might roll back into the water if the rear parking brake doesn't hold (I'm parnoid) well anyhoo when I fire the truck back up it leaves a big huge nasty looking spot on the water (soot)... hummm - that's not good for the water - makes ya think...

But as for adding more lube to the fuel just pick up some fuel conditioner from your fav store and enjoy because with the coming ULSD your gonna need it in the IDI's.

Sulfur is a naturally occuring contaminant in raw crude oil, it has absolutely no benefits.

The reason that "Low sulfur" fuel is bad is because the CHEAPEST process to remove sulfur alters the composition of the diesel fuel.

To restore lubricity to the "ULSD" you need to add good old fashioned oil. Or use Bio Diesel, which is naturally sulfur free and is high in lubricity.

well besides the point that sulfer is not the lubricating property of fuel I figure it is only costing me about $.69 per tank to use power service to replace the lubricity plus help keep the fuel system clean its pretty much a no brainer for me but every once in a while you do have to think outside the box

I've got the Moose Stang on a used motor oil vitamin suppliment. No Howe's for him. We'll see how the existing fuel system of unknown age and use holds up.

Another solution might be adding a fresh quart of pure canola or vehggie oil from teh grocery store to each full tank of staright #2. I did that when I was still burning regular diesela dn it didn't seem to hurt anything. The best bet is biodiesel, veggie oil, or some kind of commercial fuel additive. It needn't be much, and its cheap insurance against bigger issues. For example, B1 or B291-2% biodiesel) would more than make up for the lost lubricity of your ULSD fuel from what I've heard. All this makes me glad I'm running homebrew B100 and don't have to worry about the stuff that's being sold at the pump.

I've been adding Waste Motor Oil too. Now I get the "black smoke" everyone strives for, without fooling with the IP!

I have an oil drum on its side full of oil, which comes out the small ********* and goes through a 5 micron water filter. I get about a gallon a day through it, once I get a better drum (one that's not rusted) I'm going to pressurize it with air to get better flow.

I kinda thought about this also. (clean Canola) Maybe not quite a full qt at first...still pondering.

Question, for those that are using waste/used motor oil. For a few bucks why not simply use a qt of new oil

Ps. think anyone of the above will really lubricate the pump?

I believe that these things will burn waste motor oil along with some diesel, but even with the fine filtration, what are you not filtering out? True, you'll get all the metallics and dirt, but what about chemicals and other impurities? Its my personal opinion(only an opinion, not a dogma) that the waste motor oil should be recycled and not burned. Hamerdown, just burn the canola, especially in teh summer, you should have NO worries about a quart or more of it with a full tank of diesel. The brutal PA winter, might be asking for trouble....

I spoke to the techie, that has a local turbo/ IP and injector rebuild shop in my patrol area a couple of days ago, I asked him about the LSD & ULSD fuels since the LSD is now in my neighborhood.
His suggestion is to keep adding the Stanadyne or your favorite flavor to the tanks on each fill-up and all will be good.
If not....... :puke: Shame Shame he says. :backoff
I'm currently burning a gallon of WMO in each tank along with Stanadyne just for added protection.
The good thing is, I saw that the local Pacific Pride agent in town is advertising Bio now. ;Sweet ;Sweet Just haven't seen the pricing yet.

well so far for no more then you have to add a reguler diesel additive is the cheapest unless your running wmo/wvo as for adding a quart of new canolla oil even in the winter you'll never notice that small amount I ran some sunflower seed oil one winter at 4 gallons a tank ful and never had any problems but that was good oil it stayed liquid all winter

Well I'm not adding a quart at a time, I'm adding 1 gallon a day. I'm burning it as fuel, not additive.

Trucking companies have been burning their waste oil forever. It's just a matter of dilution and common sense.

Mr. Roboto,

Is the filter housing you are using a house type water-filter??

Are you using string-wound or pleated filters??

How many gallons of oil can you get before you change the water filter??

I tried straining some used oil through a coffee filter; I didn't get a bottle-cap full per day.

I stirred in 50% diesel fuel and still no quicker; I figured it would run through that coffee filter like salts through a widow-woman, but it don't.

How many micron is a coffee filter??

Thanks.
