studs are stronger than the stock headbolts and yes in almost any situation if you remove a part that is sealed by a gasket then you must replace the gasket.

Well your dad being an aircraft mechanic, hopefully his acceptance of failure is pretty low... consider the consequences! If you blow a head gasket, you probably won't even hurt "the family truck" but you will be in for a LONG weekend to fix it. That's all. You want to buy ARP head studs if you stud it they are cheaper than a factory set of new head bolts. Get them from your local ARP shop or Summit Racing's website.

ditto... mine prob has well over 200k if not 250k plus... i slaped an ats on mine and have been running the snot out it for a couple months now.... ive pulled 10k with it, i pull 6k alot, take the truck wheelin, hammer on it on the street, and bounce it off the rev limiter... still runs fineLOL
