ABS Light

Today my ABS light came on. I went into a store came out and it didnt come back on, but half way home it came on. I got to the house shut the truck off and started it right back up and the light didnt come on. This is the first time it has ever done it, also its been raining if that possibly has any effect. Is the ABS sensor going bad?

Check the brake fluid level. If it gets low the sensor in the resivour will turn on the abs dash lite... Hopefully thats all it is...

The abs unit is on the drivers side inside frame under the MC it's held on by three studs. If you crawl under the truck and look it will bemnear the oil filter on the frame. If your looking from outside the frame look behind your drivers side front tire near where the brake hose comes out and you'll see the three studs. Now I've told you where to find it. Go under and look at it thee will be wires and a plug coming from it. Unplug the plug to see if any wAter has got into it. When those abs units fall your brakes keep working but will feel softer than normal dobro internal leakage.

Have you bleed your brakes lately. If air gets in there it will set the abs light too.

Ive done a lot of work to the brakes recently because I been having troubles with a my caliper sticking. This is the first time its done it, thought maybe the rain might of had somethnig to do with it. Ill go check it out if it ever stops raining today.

I dunno if its just me but it seems like the brake pedel dont come back up fast enough compared to my old trucks when ou let go of the pedel.

I did a lot a brake work a couple of years ago to 96. After many bleedings the ABS failed.


I don't remember if you had said if you replaced the MC or not in another posting.

Ya the MC has been replaced.

Did if get softer after the replacement?

There is a adjustment screw to help fix some of that softness.
