Please bear with me here so I can explain this.
On my C6 truck, I can take off easy from a start and no smoke all the way through the auto shifting range and because the rpms stay up, no smoke, if I'm driving easy.
If I take off in second with the new 5 speed truck, 1st gear is too low, the truck pours a decent amount of smoke due to the few seconds of lugging and also smokes between shifting gears, because the rpms drop.
Will a smoke puff limiter take care of this? I dont understand why the smoke on take off if I'm not even touching the accelerator. I cant see how a smoke puff limiter could take care of the smoke at take off because like I said a second ago, no acceleration. Doesnt the injection pump keep the fuel cut down low when your not touching the pedal?
Confused here because on hard acceleration, the truck doesnt smoke. If I set in neutral and gun the throttle hard, barely any smoke. On the freeway, I can plant my foot in it and no smoke. Take off from a dead start and shifting gears, plenty of smoke!
