A 3408 with twins?

Ok I ran across this truck in a truck paper at a truck stop. It is a 84 Freightshaker with a...get this now, a 147" sleeper on it and the paper said it had a 3408 with twin turbos on it. Has anybody heard of a v8 cat with twins? I thought wow but it could be a miss print? Tim

Might not be what you think. I know (at least most) 3412s have 2 turbos, I don't remember about the 8 cyls. It may be factory equipped, or an option, and not that many people ordered it. Now the truck has 'twins'

No engine pics, but it does have two aircleaners, easy to route a turbo seperately for each bank in back. That truck would also look bad with out two cleaners though...
I like that pete. There is a driver who stops at my favorite eatery who has a 78? or 9 with a 3408 that looks just about the same and he says he is counting close to 3 million!

Tim, I definitly NOT an expert but I worked in CAT parts for a year pulling shop parts, so I pulled way more engine rebuilds than I would have liked to. It was from those memories that I was trying to pull from to see if I remembered pulling 2 turbos for a 3408 rebuild. I am pretty sure they all got 1, but I don't remember and it wasn't that long of a time period either.
There's a CAT tech over somewhere else, ask him. He might know.

No twins on any 3408 in on-road applications, at least from the factory.

As far as 2 air cleaners most conventional trucks have 2, except the aerodynamic ones.
