that is a easy job. find a 4wd frt axle assy from a f150 of around the same year and its a bolt in. the 4wd frt axle will bolt in just like the 2wd frt axle. the only thing that gets tricky is the transfer case. you have 2 options. first option, get yourself a divorced mount transfer case and have some drive shafts made. second is find the same type of tranny you have now but in a 4wd version and replace your tranny.

Most 4x4's that have a married transfer case have a different tail housing on them to connect the transfer case to. A 2wd and a 4x4 transmission are different, even if it is the same transmission. C6 E4OD..... the only "2wd" transmission that I know of that you could connect a married transfer case to , is the transmission in a pre 99 F-Superduty with the driveline emergency/parking brake. The parking brake assembly bolts to the back of a 4x4 transmission.

Anything is possible. I had a 300 inline in a 1996 before and those engines are TOUGH as nails. All foraged internals IIRC...I think I even read somewheres that the 300 six was originally designed to be a diesel, but never made it that far.

I never heard that before (not saying Ford wasnt designing them for that just I never heard that), I did know that they were put in dump trucks, and that in the 70's or 80's people put HD intake manifolds on them and they operated in the 3-4,000 RPM range.

I had a 1990 F150 4x4 with a 5 speed. Great truck and I actually used it to haul my first IDI home on a trailer with my "300-6". I heard the same thing about it originally being designed as a diesel engine... :dunno
