sounds like a good project. If you are only going to turn the pump a couple flats I think I would skip the injectors.

Picked up auto meter boost and EGT guages with all the piping, wires, and the probe for 100 bucks from a friend who switched to a edge insight monitor in his duramax

You should go with some studs and a Dps turbo cal pump or Moose Pump too. Especially if you plan on running some Dps injectors. Those would all be good upgrades.

I would also put in a tranny temp gauge and a real water temp gauge.

Ah what the heck you are going to be doing all this work. might as well put in an oil pressure gauge and a volt gauge. you would be set then as far as gauges.

that many gauges are pricey but so is a new engine or tranny.

Sounds like a good build. good luck.;Sweet

Well I finally got a chance to bring the truck in the shop and spend a couple evenings on it. Got the cab and the box torn off and back bumper, projects well on its way. Heres a pic

Cam, turbo wheel upgrade and some matched bb injectors, and its not because I sell all that stuff. It works.

I get 19 mpg cruising.

I think your plan sounds good, but you'll be out of fuel with a stock IP cranked all the way up. Maximum fuel delivery is only one thing a good pump builder adjusts. Ideally you go with an all DPS fuel system or alternately a Moose or locally built "hot" IP and ARP stud the heads. Since you have the thing pulled apart an IC would be easier now than it ever will be again and will help with the fact that the ATS 093 will still be struggling efficiency wise much over 20 psi of boost, maybe sooner. Also throw that factory turbo air box in the trash and get some sort of homemade air intake and large capacity air filter on there. It will allow it to breath easier on the intake side. Ideally you would also ceramic coat the hot side pipes or at least wrap them. Speaking of pipes, I'm sure you know about the squished factory turbo downpipe. There are a variety of ways to improve this, depending on your budget, knowledge of how to fabricate and weld and other factors. Since I'm not a good welder/fabricator, I'd probably be limited to buying an expen$ive 3" Banks downpipe or taking the problem to someone who knew how to modify the downpipe joint for a 3" piece of exhaust pipe. Anyway, if the budget is a problem you may have to leave some of that stuff out and maybe you don't even want to do all this on that engine. Please check the donor engine very thoroughly for cavitation and I would highly recommend studs and a new set of headgaskets while it's out. Studs, gaskets and a hot pump plus fixing that stupid downpipe are going to be the biggest bang for your buck.

"Diesel JD" I do agree, I'll probably hold off on the injectors until i can afford a dps or moose pump. And as far as the intake goes I plan on getting a BHAF and fabbing a 3" to 4" homemade intake. For the downpipe my buddy is upgrading his PSD dp to a 4" so i'll get his and switch the turbo flange, or i have some new 3" pipe lying around the shop that i can make my own. "typ4" what are your prices on the cam and the upgraded turbo wheel, I live in Manitoba so shipping may be an issue.

That looks like a great project. I did something similar with my '86 F250. Photos linked below if you are interested. Others my have a different opinion, but after having both DPS and Moose fuel parts on my truck, I can only recommend the Moose stuff. My DPS IP and injectors are setting on the shelf and have been for a few years. The stage 1's will stay there, the DPS Ip will go to Mel in the next month or so to become a Moose pump and I'll get another set of Moose injectors for my 6.9 crew cab.:D

Shipping the cam isnt a problem, the turbo should come to me because it requires some custom machining on the comp housing.
Cam will be 190.00 + shipping, exchange.

I'll keep it in mind for sure, I have 3 came cores, but I'm not too keen on shipping the turbo off because it will delay my build.

If you were going to intercool I could send a wheel ,backplate and housing, the machined part where it slips into the hat is the problem. Not an issue if slipping a hose over it.

And if you want to give up the cores I will cover the shipping.

That is a good deal. You will get a lot better performance from the upgraded turbo. These turbos are terrible in their stock form. If I was you I would definitely do it or just mount a better turbo on it all together. But that would take some fab work though.
