Hello I am new to the site just bought a 93 f350 Idi automatic banks turbo, 157,000 miles, new trans but the overdrive light does not work it does work when I push it as far as shifting in and out of overdrive just no light. It seems like it shifts hard first into second, almost normal into third then almost feels like it lugs in next, does not kick down when you get on it. I have changed the tach sensor because it was reading at zero at idle but still not shifting right. I don't want to ruin a new trans by driving it this way but don't know how to figure it out was told to replace the light in the shifter handle first to see if it is blinking and go from there the truck does have a banks transmission module on the frame but it is not hooked up, the guy that did the tranny said not to run it as it is ******* the tranny any help would be great thanks.

Okay, a couple pieces of advice to start cheap.
One, invest in periods, it makes reading easier. [emoji106]
Two, invest in an OBD 1 reader so you can check for codes. They're cheap.
Three, check the readings at the FIPL, the voltage can change how hard it shifts.
I would also recommend fixing the O/D light to help you know if there's a code.
The E4OD is tied into the RPM Sensor, Vehicle Speed Sensor (for speedo), the FIPL (also incorrectly referred to as TPS, throttle position sensor), and the MLPS or Neutral Safety Switch.

Check out this article of you're going to own a truck with an E4OD, I consider it a must read.
