I have a code 62 problem. I bought a code reader and tested it several times. This truck is a 4wd 3/4 ton single cab. I bought it for $1800 about 3 years ago. I have had loss of over drive (O/D) problems since I bought it. It runs great when I turn O/D off. O/D works but it will go into limp mode about 15 minutes after driving in O/D. So I've read the forum and I dropped the transmission pan. I replaced the solenoid pack and spliced on a new wiring harness. I changed the transmission fluid and put on a new transmission pan gasket.
No change. It runs exactly the same! The Torque Converter(TC) leaks. There is a pan over the TC that is leaking (no change). I'm guessing the TC needs to be replaced. However, I really think this issue is an electrical problem. The O/D light has stopped working and the transmission shifts fine until it runs in O/D for about 15-20 min.
I really enjoy this truck. I've pulled my neighbor's Jeep out of the mud several times and pulled down lots of trees. I've hauled a lot so big loads. It's a beast and can handle a lot of abuse. I really like having this truck as a utility vehicle. However, this transmission issue is driving me nuts as I am not confident to drive long distances. I am considering bringing the truck to a transmission shop, however, I fear it will result in a transmission rebuild. I don't want to spend more on the rebuild than it is worth. The mileage is 160,000.
I'd like to keep the truck and I can do some mechanical repairs. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
