Am almost done with my build but am worried about the rear end gear ratio.
I put a 91 F-250 body, bed, engine, and trans on a 1980 F-700 short shassis with the stock axles and dayton wheels.
Am wondering about how the new gear ratio in the rear end with the huge tires and the stock f-250 maual zf tranf are going to work out if any one has any experience with this. Also it has the 7.3 IDI. Thanks;Sweet

Give us some pics and you'll be an instant rockstar around these parts.

To answer your question, is the rear axle a two-speed axle? If it's a single, we need to know the ratio. A very easy way to find out the ratio is put the trans in neutral, jack up one side of the rear, then spin that tire one revolution. Count the revolutions of the driveshaft, that's the ratio. Don't lift both rear tires or things will get wacky.

I will but pictures on as soon as I can but the camera on my phone is busted now so it has to wait. But the rear end is a one speed and i believe it is around 5.45-1 and im worried about loosing my top end but am thinking maybe the huge tires will make up for it.
