Can anyone tell me if an E40D trans from a 1997 E350 1-ton van with a 7.3L Powerstroke turbo diesel will fit a 1994 E350 cubevan with an old school 7.3L that is not turbocharged....I know it should bolt up but I'm wondering about the shift solenoid wiring and such.

Big Rig Tech,

I cross posted your thread to both the PSD forum and the IDI forum, it will get maximum responses and exposure that way.

You'll need to use a 94 torque converter and solenoid pack.

IDI torque converters are 4 stud, PSD converters are 6 stud. And you need the right year solenoid pack to match the computer, solenoid pack is a 5 minute swap once the pan is off.

The bellhousing pattern is supposed to be the same from 6.9 all the way to the lastest and greatest 7.3 PSD. I hear tell that the 6.0 was supposed to continue that trend but I'm not sure of that...

Ok on the 7.3Ls, but the 6.0L did switch to the 4.6L/5.4L/6.8L modular pattern.
