If you owned one would you own it again? Experiences? Troubles? We've had ours for about 8 years, bought it used in 98 and we've loved it ever since. It has rarely given us trouble. Generally typical wear items such as alternators/starters etc. We did lose one u-joint while traveling down the road, but hey, that's why you buy 4x4. Right now aside from the the clutch/tranny issue we're having, it runs better than anything else we have, including our 99 sienna or 98 T&C. We bought it 60K and it now has 156K on the clock, and, knock on wood, we've changed the oil once. Time to do it again. This thing tows like a champ as well.

Yes I would.;Sweet Great power for a small block, loads of upgrade and build options. Heck I run a 72 351W from a Torino GT in an 88 Ranger.:peelout
Downfall? Poor mileage.

Sure the Windsors are great little engines. Now the 351/400 M.... there's some boat anchors for sure

Love the 351HO in the '84 with the four barrel holley 600. The '93 will be the second 351 in the fleet. Even the EFI version is purdy simple and easy to work on.

I have been building a '69 351W for my 1965 Rambler American 440. The nice thing about the Windsors is the relative light weight of the block plus the fact that since Cleveland parts are hard to come by, the aftermarket is producing heads for these engines that either flow as well or better than the stock Clevelands.

My 351W is punched out .030 over (a 357W! Magnum Windsor!)with an RV cam and will have just a tickle of nitrous. I have my eye on a T5 tranny to put behind this sleeper motor.

I built a twin turbo 357W for my 94 Ranger for drag racing. I'm using two 6.5L GM diesel turbo's....Here's what's in my engine:

351W bored .030" over (357-CID)
re-conditioned stock "football" rods with ARP Waveloc HP bolts
Speed-Pro .030" forged pistons, 8.56:1 compression ratio
Home ported E5 351W heads
ARP head bolts
stock 1.78/1.45 valves with Comp Cam springs 10 degree locks/retainers
Erson anti-pump up lifters
Erson hardened pushrods
Weiand Stealth high rise dual plane intake
Holley 750cfm double pumper (boost prepped)
Stock Duraspark-II dizzy, Accel cap/rotor kit
Crane HI-6S ignition
Holley lasershot pro-strip coil
Comp Cams 280H grind flat tappet camshaft (.512" lift, 230 duration) (not used with the turbo's)
Longtube headers, 3" collectors and 1-5/8" primaries
85 Crown-Vic double hump oil pan
9mm FRPP plug wires
Edelbrock dual idler gear drive timing set

I'm in the middle of mounting my fuel system now, it consists of an Aeromotive A1000 pump and A2000 regulator with 8AN and 10AN fuel lines. The rear chassis was toast so I fabbed a new one with a Comp Eng 4 link and QA1 coilovers. Hope to make 500+HP on pump gas with an air/water intercooler and 15psi of boost.

I got a 5.8 in my f-250 and love it. paired with a C6 trans and some 4.10 gears, it turns my 36in swamper with ease. Will also pull a stock hemi when i hooked bumper to bumper. I would defiently buy another one.

A buddy also has one with 212k on it and runs like a top. little coolant leak out of the timing cover when its cold but when she warms up it just want to work.

Best bang for you buck. Lot more power than my gutless 305 in my c-10.

gruss---the reason they were boat anchors--they were a largely detuned cleveland----but put the right cam, intake, carb on them--with dual exhaust--they would GO--no joke--did it to a few------------ and recurve the dist---and the old style gears and chain---

I've had great luck with the 351 windsors. Stock, they weren't the best choice for towing heavy trailers but they were very dependable and would take a lot of abuse.
