ok....i pulled the owners manual, just to be sure. One section says, "do not add extra inhibitors or additives to the coolant. These can be harmful and compromise the corrosion protection of the engine coolant". Another section says, ....after drain and flush...."when using green colored coolant or equivalent meeting ford spec ESE-M97B44-A, a supplemental coolant additive is required. Use additive 4 pints of FW-16 or equivalent meeting ford spec ESN-M99B169-A. Add an aditional 8-10oz every 15,000 miles to maintain proper concentration. Do NOT use this additive with yellow colored coolant meeting ford spec WSS-M97B51-A1.

Unless you are using a coolant that has the additives in it (like fleetrite) you will need to use a DCA like FW-16.

DCA = Diesel Coolant Additive.

Its an anti-cavitation additive the helps these higher compression engines from having cavitation issues.

Most likely not. Cavitation wasnt a big issue on the PSD's.
