hello everybody,
I am new to the forum, and I recently lost my 7.3L IDI to cavitation... I am looking at the option of re-powering my 87 ford E350 box truck with a Cummins turbo engine. I found a wrecked truck ('98 dodge 3500 dually been rolled) for 4K complete. when I went to look at it I thought I was going to see a 12V, but it turned out to be a 24V.
My question is how difficult is it to strip the engine control system (harneses and gizmos) to put in another truck? I was looking at the 12V for easier install due to no ECM. I have background in electronics and practical experience in mechanics (yes I can twist a wrench), so basics arent a prob. Just wondering how big a chore it is to remove all the needed "stuff" to make a go of it.
Also if anybody can point me in the direction of anyone who has put a CTD in an '87-88 Ford E250/350 I would be much obliged. Haven't been able to talk to anybody who has actually done it, just seen a few pics on the web of it.
Thanks in abundance,
Dylan
