My son-in-law just purchased a new Chevy 6.6 D Max and it came with 245x75/16 tires. He claims it is the largest size that comes with the truck. These tires put him at about 2200 rpm @ 70 mph.
Can he go to 265s or 285s without hurting his mileage or loosing his warranty. Anybody put a bigger tire on with no problems?

Well, when I got mine I told them the tires look to small. so they asked me what I would like on it, I told them 265's so they put them on. 285's I really dont think they will fit. I am running Nitto Terra Grappler and so far so good.

285's

I've got 285/75/16 BFG All-Terrains on stock alloy wheels. They seem to work ok. Have had no problems or rubs, I bought the truck in Feb.

Thanks for the replies. 245s just seem too small for that truck and I know the flotation in sand is less than acceptable.

I bought mine used and the previous owner put 265's on the stock chromed steel wheels. They look good. A lot better than my pop's with the stock 245's on the alloy wheels. The bigger tire just looks better, it's a shame the wheels are so narrow.

Son is law put 285s on and they look good. Had a friend reflash whatever to adjust the speedometer and the largest it would adjust to was 265s. It seems like GM allowed for someone that knew what they were doing with tires to calibrate their speedo to at least that size.
