folks, going to look at a 2002 7.3 PSD.
It sounds like it needs an injector. So while im in there:

What is the best rebuild kit for the money? Iirc there is a kit that has everything in it, including the green locktite.

For power: 4” turbo back exhaust, intake, bigger turbo, injectors, fuel pump? And a chip too.
What else? Im not looking for huge gains, just make towing easier.
Factory it should put out 250hp and 505lbft of torque.
I want to push into the 300-350hp range.

The tranny ill run until it blows up. Then ill swap the manual in it.

Unless it has a ton of blowby, I wouldn't worry about a rebuild kit.

If I have to do one injector, might as well redo the seals. Guy said he doesn’t know much about diesels so I don’t know how bad of shape it may actually be in.

And no im not forgetting your comments about the ‘97 PSD upgrades either.

One thing I meant to ask you,
What efuel were you talking about?

Riffraff: complete intake system or just the filter that replaces the stock filter?

Also ill have $2500-$3000 for repairs and upgrades.
Intake and exhaust are a must, repairs of course, bigger injectors (which brand is worth it? And what model?) Chip, and bigger turbo depending on what I have left.

If it was mine I'd go all stock with a full 4 inch exhaust and a cold air I had o e for work and when I turned it in I had 145k trouble free miles oh I threw the k and n air filter I. The trash where it can actually do something

Edit total mileage was just shy 365k miles

Which cold air did you have?
Also did you clean your k&n? Seen a few of those not clean and the customer was ecstatic the truck ran better

You can build your own piping with some 4" exhaust pipe. Just get the filter.
On the efuel, I recommend the mark fugazzotto kit. You can build your own, but his is a pretty well packaged kit.

I'm not 100%on the kit but to clean the k and n I'd have to stop for a day also even after a good cleaning I'd notice dust in the intake

Huh. Ive heard you clean them with a solvent and then lube them.

79jasper, so that just stuffs over the old air filter or do I get to take the airbox out and all that?

K & N filters are performance filters. They do not filter well with out a sock added to them. I never used K & N filters.

You take the box out. Let me see if I have a pic.
Didn't have one. Google 7.3 powerstroke 6637 and you'll find plenty examples.

Ah ok. So two questions on that:
Wouldn’t that lead to excess hot air coming from the intake?
How well does it protect from dusting? I would assume well given the recommendations but, assuming makes an as* out of you and I!

The factory airboxes were known to let dust in. The blue 6637 filters very well.
Sitting still, the air may be hotter, but once you're moving the air will be cooler.
