2001 Excursion should I buy?

What do you all think? I'm thinking of picking this up to pull my travel trailer 26' 5000lbs wet. Would be much more comfy than my old '87 idi. Seem like a decent deal? Any pitfalls I should look out for? https://bozeman.craigslist.org/cto/6327170835.html

I would do it in a heartbeat at that price, if he can show paperwork for the trans.
Otherwise I would drop him down $1k.
Appears to already have a ts6 style chip.
If the ebpv hasn't been deleted, you can get tunes that'll turtn it into a exhaust brake.

Crawl underneath and look for rust on the inner rockers. Also the dog legs of the rear ( side ) doors, you should be able to check for rust by slightly pulling up the weather striping in the lower rear corners.

I would second the rust comment. If it doesn't have any serious rust, runs good, and all the normal checks like fluids, blowby, etc... Check out good I would jump on it. And rust spots you do find I would take a small screwdriver and poke around on. Surface rust can easily be taken care of with POR15 or any other effective method of your choice. But big rust is bad.
