Could be the injector pump going???
Oil pressure switch?

Even though there's no codes, can you hook a good scanner to it?
To be able to view what everything's doing?

Yup! Sometimes they are rumored to get dirty, best Fix$$$ for a mechanic is a new pump.

Yes, they get dirty. Sometimes out of adjustment. IIRC.

I thought the sensor could be replaced by itself? (Definitely could be wrong)

From what I have read it can be removed, cleaned, replaced, I'm not sure if you can buy just this part anywhere of if you gotta buy the whole pump. I was somewhat forced into one of these as the '90s burbs were never offered with a full mechanical pump, however it seems that most of the problems that are common have fixes much more simple than is common knowledge.

I wouldnt mess with the optical sensor unless you are sure you can get it back eactly where it was. They dont commonly have problems unles you run Alt fuel or have a cheaply rebuilt pump that wasnt tested.

Have you checked, cleaned, and tightened your grounds? Dropped your tank and checked your fuel sock?

How about your booster pump on the frame. My 97 has 2 fuel pumps one in the tank the other on the frame if not keeping up pressure it will die with no codes
