hello,
I found the above mention truck for sale and did a check/drive on it and need a little more advice please.
There is absolutely no rust on the truck and body is straight. when i hit the key she fired right off with no grey smoke..hardly any at all really..oh btw..truck has had no mods..176000 miles. drove it for half hr. stopped pulled the oil filler cap blow by test..0 blowby.. it did have fairly new antifreeze in it but looking at the maint records it was just due,and done with a full fluid change.the one thing i caught was even tho the engine wasnt all that warm when i cracked the radiator cap it blew antifreeze back, not much and no foam in it but some.
has a rebuilt auto tranny 5 yrs ago.. has a firm shift to it. one rear window motor bad.
brakes just done 2 months ago.
$6 k
The antifreeze blow back kinda has me concerned. anyone think it might just be to much psi cap?

Yes, oil looked good, no discoloration or nothing. And yeah I mean like separated oil in top of radiator. Tranny fluid was good.. Compared it to my 1/2 ton dipstick which I have just changed 2 mo ago.

It will need some front end work in the future.. Has that mushy steer feeling to it.. Sway bar bushings, tie rod ends ect.

Oh yeah, one more thing.
It has a small seep/leak around the oil filter housing and runs down the oil filter. Not a big one mind you. Probably a quarter sized drop if you set a long red light. Is that a easy fix or no ?

Ok,thanks. Anyone else?
Is changing the oil filter housing gasket a choir , any special tools or things to watch for? Could it be a sign of a problem or possibly just age and time to change it?
Thanks

Oil cooler removal and replace orings and seals. Drain oil/coolant $60 parts 2+\~ hr job.
Does this sound right?

Pull the oil filter off and check for a double seal, that'll make them leak.

Don't forget you'll be replacing the oil and coolant, so add those prices in too.

Mine seeps some also, not like yours though.
I know mine needs the o-rings, in winter when it's cold she leaks like a sieve, until she warms up.

Another option is using the uv dye.
