i am wanting to do a compression test on my father in laws truck as it smokes alot on start up but after it warms up its not so bad. it uses about 1-2 quarts of oil a day on a 25-30 miles trip, i was thinking valve guides but that seems to be alot of oil in that short of a trip but OD isnt working on the trans due to tach sensor, its running high rpm. now the question is im worried about pulling the glow plugs and the tips breaking. is there any suggestion on what to do as far as not being ruff and trying to pull them out, also any suggestion on if its the rings or valve guides or its hard to say without a compression check.
