1990 dt drops oil presure when warm and at idle

this dt466 has great pressure when driving but as soon as u let it idle down ,it drops big time any ideas R

any scary noises at idle?
Baring something serious like a worn out engine. I'd check the oil pickup screen. Faulty sending unit or gage could also be a possibility.

no noises that are unfimilar ,, it has 120k on it and the history shows numerous maintence and upkeep done during its life,, no smoke and has god power for 170hp,,,, the gauge when cold jumps to 50/60 as well as holds that when driving ,, but soon after when she drops to idle, it reads 15/20 R

I don't know about the dt 466 but the 444 (7.3) lists that as above minimum hot pressure at idle.

so that would be normal,,,,,,, my other dt 466 seems to hold pressure at less of a range,,,,

The 79 International S1700 at work only holds 20psi at hot idle, ~50 at 1500RPM. It's done that for ~3 years...I wouldn't worry.
