1984 F-250 6.9 exact battery configuration/group

My son and I inherited a very nice F-250 with only 27,000 actual miles. I'm finicky about originality and it needs two new batteries. It had the farmer installed fits all batteries. From what I have learned so far is that the correct batts are group/series 27? If so then what is the exact post configuration as pos and neg and where they face. The group number of the battery should only leave one choice for that, but I want it to be exact as original.

The positive terminals are toward the inside of the truck, far from the fenders. The posts on the driver side battery are toward the front of the truck, the posts on the passenger side battery are toward the back of the truck.

Mine are 27 on pass side and 27F on drivers side. They are mirror images with all terminals on the back side, negative toward fenders.

I don't think that the battery cables on my trucks would reach that 27F on the driver's side. Of course after all these years it's hard to be sure what's stock.

I'll have to look through my fleet and see what they all look like. I was pretty sure the arrangement I described is consistent through all my trucks, but maybe not.

I highly encourage you to take the "original" mindset and throw it out the window.
there are many aspects to these trucks that require upgrading. batteries being on the top of the list.

ahh I missed that!!
so the water separator on these old pigs is completely sub par.
if it starts getting air intrusion, this is the #1 culprit, unless you have leaking return caps

I bought new 65N's for my 87 F250 (what it calls for) but then a month later got my 85 E350 RV and it needed batteries. I can only drive one at a time, so I moved then to the truck. The van chassis calls for 2 different size batteries (neither a 65) but they fit thankfully, so I didn't have to buy another set of batteries. I got the Walmart Everstart Maxx 3 year free replacement ones, about $95 each.

and if you cannot figure out how to replace the one o-ring that fails in the separator after 30 years, probably not going to able to maintain the rest of it.

odd. because ive never been able to salvage one of those units, but can still build engines..

Maybe look in a fancy manual with pictures to see if maybe they had a picture of the battery showing brand?
