It looks like my suspicions are comfirmed. My best guess is the PO burnt it up with a combo of constant, low cranking amps and voltage.

Time to look for a rebuilder.

Where on the Central Coast are you? I presume you're too far south of the Bay Area to be able to come up here...I don't remember his name, but towcat has a guy who's really good with starters and alternators...

Haha its that bad huh? I didnt know how to gauge how bad it is, other than judging by the slight smell of burnt up insulation and the obvious carbon. Strange that it doesnt really smell all that bad though, there is the smell of burnt insulation but not nearly as bad as one would expect it to be. :dunno

Im in Santa Maria, which is north of Santa Barbara or south of San Luis Obispo. To bad huh?
