1993 7.3 IDI with turbo, recently pulled, rebuilt, and reinstalled and has 3K miles on it since.
Recently my Wait to Start light has quit working. I will turn the key on and wait 8-10 seconds then I begin to hear clicking from the relay but it will fire right up. The strange part is when I...
After some more cranking and swapping some glow plugs around she studdered to life! It seems kinda hard to start every time it sits for more then 5 hours or so, so I think Im going to just put in a fresh round of glow plugs. Thanks everyone for the support, the help here on OB is unrivaled!
the smoke was white. I did some more research and found about the timing marks on the infection pump (which I did reuse, I aligned its tdc mark with the tdc mark on the engine my engine builder put on). After I did that it started stumbling and begging to turn over and pouring black smoke but...
Hello Everyone. So thanks to the overwhelming support on OB I diagnosed my 7.3 IDI with stock turbo in my 93 F350 as having a frozen piston. I yanked the engine, had it bored out .040 over, sleeved, and reinstalled it with the refurbished turbo. Now its time to test fire and the engine will just...

Thanks for the responses everyone. New to Oil Burners and IDI but pretty impressed so far! So my next question would be, since I know my trouble cylinder can I only pull just that head and replace that head gasket or should I do both anyway? And if anyone has a good procedure (or torque specs)...
I had someone watch it while I rotated the engine. Now the front most cylinder had a pulled glow plug when I bought the truck and on that particular cylinder neither rocker moved in the entire 7/8th rotation at all. Valve Springs looks good and I can't tell if the rods or valve stems are broken...
If a head gasket failed wouldn't I have water mixed with oil in the pan? From what I can tell oil in the pan is still nice and black but I just pulled the dipstick, haven't drained it yet.
I just recently purchased a 1993 F-350 Crew Cab that has a 7.3L IDI International-Navistar diesel with the stock turbo and 5 speed manual. The truck was apparently running then quit and sat for 2 years before being sold to me. I went threw the normal steps to try to get it running. 2 new...
