I have a hard decision to make

My concern with a hand operated clutch... Both hands would be off the wheel! Unless you integrate the lever into the shifter? That would actually be kind of awesome. Best of luck with your foot!

    Discouraging Buying Experience

Lol as much as I like San Francisco, I can't drive a truck all the way from there to here! Although it may be closer to the rabbi-beater in Texas LOL!

The 6.8, 10 cylinder engine, good, bad, ugly

Yeah a guy here at work says, "My dad has one, it gets the same mileage, loaded, unloaded, city or highway". So at least its consistent? So if it'll be used for heavy towing, I think it'd be an excellent choice. I guess that's exactly it! What will they be using it for?

    Discouraging Buying Experience

Yeah, I am looking to get the truck I'll have for a long time. I do not need a truck quickly at all, I need to find the "the one" that I'll keep for 10-20 years. The more I think about this just isn't the one for me. Like I said, all this shit went wrong when I tried to buy because something is...

    Discouraging Buying Experience

I found that fact out when I compared this truck to another on craigslist and did the math of what it needed that the one on craigslist doesn't. It's quite shocking how a $100 here and $250 there and another $50 here will add up VERY quickly. Much quicker than just spending more on your truck.

    Discouraging Buying Experience

Haha yeah, my post above pretty much got me convinced its a bad deal. 300,000 Mile truck $1100 Tires $500 Carpet $200 Hitch $200 Fluid Changes $200 Interior bits $100 Bumpers $150 Seats $300 Fuel system repairs, including, gauge, tank switch $??? Air Conditioning $??? Including...

    Discouraging Buying Experience

Yeah thats all I could think of, either way I am just not happy at all with the seller or the truck at this point in time. I was excited to hit the ground running on this one and get the major things fixed, I am not anymore. I got a better look at the mess of wiring under the dash, the fuel...

    Discouraging Buying Experience

Yeah, it might not be that bad, I'm just at the end of my rope here with this thing. I could spend $1000 more and have $1000 less in problems to fix. Also it seems the airtube coming from the air cleaner on top of the engine is missing, would this cause any problems?

    Discouraging Buying Experience

Thank you everyone for weighing in on this! I am leaning towards walking away from this one. Too many unknowns and odd things going on. The guys sheer lack of getting ready to sell this thing to me really bothers me, I gave him almost a week for me to go pick it up. He didn't even bother to...

    Discouraging Buying Experience

Sorry, I'll elaborate a little: It was an 1993 F350 crew cab with ZF5 manual, 313,000 miles and I was ready to pay $1100 for it. It is almost completely rust free, but does have dents/dings and the interior isn't the greatest. I am inclined to get back into the budget I was originally looking...

    Discouraging Buying Experience

My money, my girlfriend and I went to go get the F350 I've been talking about, I even put it in my signature! As I thought it was a done deal. I let the seller know a week in advance I'd be picking it up this Saturday. Here's what happened: -He texted me on friday that he needed more time...

    Head gasket question

ah man! That sucks, just read the whole thread. I am 25 now and I am still not looking forward to telling my dad tonight that I am picking up a 1993 F350 on Saturday... I definitely know what it's like to have a dad make up his mind and that's IT! Tough to argue when it's his garage that'll...

    Missed the big moment

lol the truck I just got has 313,000! I can't quite claim it as a pride thing yet (I am of course very proud of the truck!), as I've not put any worth-mentioning miles on it yet. I guess for me its waiting for 333,333 or 350,000...

Out comes the 7.3..... Quick question on engine stand?

A guy here at work got a great deal on an engine stand for his 460. He found it locally on craigslist.

    Went for a test drive!

Thank you for the welcome 8seconds! Once I get into this truck a little bit I hope to bring some knowledge to the table here as well. For now I am just taking in as much information as a I can. I will definitely have to pick up some repair manuals! If the push button functions well, I am happy...

    Went for a test drive!

Someone mentioned the spare tire being missing, it is actually laying in the bed. Another thing I remembered this morning, while telling the guys at work tales of how awesome the International Diesel sounds, was that the steering column seems to be loose, I don't imagine that should be too...

    Went for a test drive!

Another thing I noticed was that when I crawled under the truck the bottom of the block was covered in a thick layer of oil/grime/sludgy stuff, I suppose this would be the oil that leaked over time? The area around the PS filler neck (if I remember right) was like that too.

    Went for a test drive!

The reservoir, I saw the film inside of it... I am thinking that at this low of a cost of entry, even if the motor dies on me, it'll be worth putting in a new one.

    Went for a test drive!

So I went for a test drive in the F-350. For those of you that didn't read my earlier thread it is here: http://www.oilburners.net/forums/showthread.php?59009-93-F350-Crewcab-with-ZF5/ The Good!: It looks extremely good when you crawl under it, very rust free, as claimed. It still had...

    93 F350 Crewcab with ZF5

Is this something that'd be fixable? Or would that make it a bad buy? I see you have a '94, any experience with the digital odometer? (the one on this truck is not lighting up).

    93 F350 Crewcab with ZF5

through work I do have access to a metal fabricator that would be able to do it. Just not sure what the cost would be, haha. No sense researching that too much till I find out more.
