Return lines in a question & whats this ?
Re: Thanks, The turbo says Garret on it, I change the filter maybe 5000 miles ago and it is pretty dirty, Would removing the foam from underneith the filter give me a noticable differance in air flow, What are the chances if I do remove it that I would get a lot of dirt/debris through the...- d41

Return lines in a question & whats this ?
Sorry about that ,Another question What is that big thick piece of foam underneith the air cleaner ? Looks to me like it would limit a lot of air flow, Is it needed, Don't live or drive in dusty conditions. Can I ditch it ? Thanks,- d41

Return lines in a question & whats this ?
Hey all, replaced my return lines yesterday, easy but hard on my bad back, anyway after all was done it fired right up and ran perfect no cranking needed ? easyiest way to replace return lines ?
Re Hey Thanks everyone, I read the tech article last nite and that is where I got confused / thinking I thought I read somwhere to remove one side of return line and assemble on bench, what I read out of the tech file is replacing on the truck. Thanks again to all the good folks out there...- d41

Re Thanks, So if I for some reason don't get enough return line or screw up and cut somthing wrong is this just regular fuel hose ? I could pick up at NAPA , Bill- d41

easyiest way to replace return lines ?
I have ordered a return line kit and hopefully will be replacing them this week end, So is it easyier to replace piece by piece in truck or I think I have read to remove one complete side at a time and assemble it on a bench then install on truck, If doing the later is there much room for play...- d41

Puff white smoke @ start up
RE I can pull a 3-5% grade at 40-45 mph , EGT's reaching 11K to 1100 deg F Wait to start light about 10 sec at most, It starts right up and runs fine, I did have the IP timed about a year ago or so, I'm kinda wondering even though it has very low milage but all original that maybe I need...- d41

Shaky idle & lack of pulling power maybe ?
Called the local injection shop and talked to him, he said maybe an injector is varnished ? He asked if I hear a knock when I get on it or at start up, I do hear a knock at start up (cold) ? He said he perfers Delpi injectors over the code G's and wants $32 each So no one as commented on the...- d41

I forgot that I did have the timming checked by the local injection shop they said it was good, They also checked the pressure and said that was good. I have changed the fuel filter but didnt cut the old one in half, I was thinking of changing here soon with a NAPA one piece filter. I've put...- d41

Fuel filter drain ?
RE: Yes that is the one I'm going to install, I am also having leaks with my water drain separator, Comes with the drain but ya have to use your old water sensor, & they are cheaper then OEM style ? Bill,- d41

Fuel filter drain ?
Going to change my fuel filter & went to drain but no fuel / water would drain, It sounded like a little air hissing somewhere about the filter is this normal ? also I am getting rid of the H20 separator bowl and installing a NAPA 3617 and am in need of the water sensor O ring, Is this a dealer...- d41

RE: Thanks, OK dumb question, When I replace the return lines n caps will air be let into the fuel system ? And have to bleed ? Today I found that the only time I smell deisel in the cab is when the environment control switch is in the vent position ??? Thanks, again. Bill- d41

RE: Well I got a chance to look under the hood today, I diddn't see anything around the injectors or lines, the valley underneath & behind the IP appears to be a little damp, no puddles or fuel just a little damp. but IP & all connections are dry. The truck is all original with only 36K miles...- d41

diesel smell
Hello All, I'm gettin a strong raw unbernt diesel smell or could it be exaust in the cab only when stopped at a light , parking lot.... I haven't found any leaks. Any one else ever experiance anything like this ? been happing for awhile but tonite apperard to be worse. Thanks, Bill- d41

Goodyear Gatorback belts

Goodyear Gatorback belts
Good Morning, Well my serpentine belt is squekin louder than the truck, Time to change, Any one use Goodyear gatorback belts ? About $10.00 cheaper than Ford & NAPA, They say they last longer & are quieter. Thanks, Bill- d41

1 piece fuel filter, say napa #3617?
