There is a link to a walkaround of the truck. It starts up quickly and easily every time. The truck has just under 130k miles on it. It originally had a slide in camper in it and was not used much. I replaced the original factory injectors about 4k...
I have an 87 F250 supercab that is missing the fuel tank sending unit. If someone is willing to sell it along with the tank straps I would really appreciate it.
Shoot me a PM. Thanks!
Good advice, I will try to just nurse it home. Crappy thing is I have to fuel up too so that will he interesting. Kind of crappy, with this uncertainty I have to cut Scout Camp a little short. Fiesta Island is the absolute best camp I have been to!
Another question... how is it supposed to go together? Is it a slip or press fit, is it supposed to be welded? The arm is slipping on the shaft when the gear is changed. Sometimes it grabs and changes a gear, most of the time it does not
We went to home depot and bought a set of vice grips. From other pictures on the intrawebs it looked like that could only be removed by disconnecting the sprag inside?
If it can be done without all that work I will be stoked. I can barely reach in there with the exhaust and everything. Thanks!
Hello,
I am stuck in San Diego after driving in this morning. Over the last couple days I have had to shift almost to 2 to get it in drive (c6 trans). I did not think much of it, but this morning my friend was moving the truck to our camping area and the shifter would move freely but the trans...
+1 Rot Box
Previous owner removed the oil sensor to install a mechanical gauge. I guess the lead for the sensor is just hanging because the oil pressure fluctuates rapidly like it's bouncing off the engine or something while it's running. When it drops to 0 PSI (low) the check engine light...
Found the part, Dorman part number 83280, steering lock lever found in the "help!" section
I ended up cutting about 1/2 of the metal rod off so I could install it without disassembling the column any further than necessary.
worked out well, and I disabled the annoying shift lockout function :)
Another day, another problem
So I drained my radiator the other day and upon finding it pretty full of crap, I decided to try to clean it out with a 1:5 mix of muriatic acid and letting it sit overnight. Astoundingly, it cleaned the exposed brass but didn't do a thing to the deposits...
"Also never remove the engine with the torque converter still attached to it either. Trying to pull the converter off the shaft is dangerous to the front pump."
Yes. Wish I had known that the first time I pulled an engine. Ended up having to junk the truck because I broke the pump right off...
So I got it as sealed as I could just by tightening and loosening it. No longer spewing soot out to the engine bay when I drive it.
When I drive on the freeway there is not constant smoke, but it puffs very light smoke out of the exhaust like every 1/2 second. Does this sound like a bad /...
I am looking at it from a cost / benefit standpoint, as in is the cost to my back and knees worth the benefit of no leaks :D
Also, I'm looking at my EGT sensor. It's a banks unit, and hasn't worked since I got the truck. How do I test it to see what's wrong?
I have had a persistent leak in the turbo inlet since I got this truck. It's enough so that the entire top of the engine is coated in soot.
Tonight I decided to do a little wrenching on it and found that it is not at the turbo flange as I previously thought. I found that the (majority) of the...
Can you explain the difference between the 6.9 and 7.3 valvetrains? Is there a pic or article? I've got 130k miles on mine, is there a time frame they should be looked in to?
If the truck still overheats on a level highway then it is probably not an air flow problem. I have been thinking of acid flushing my radiator since it's coming up on 30 years. Did you take a look at the inside of the radiator when you flushed it?
I know not the same, but I couldn't get my...
I drive my truck like every black puff I leave at a stop sign may be it's last. No reason in particular, I've just always been that way. When I go to start the truck to go to work it usually starts within the first 2 engine rotations (no glow plugs). It idles fantastic and the only under hood...
There are no less than 6 diesel *trucks with good* rad core supports in the junkyard down the street from my house. If there is a need and it's somewhat easy to pull the core supports then I'm happy to grab and ship them (for a small price, of course)
