I've read conflicting reports about fitment issues on idi motors for these filters and was curious if anyone had experience running one. I'm about to have an oil analysis done on the Motorcraft FL1995A filter I've been running for 5k miles, but I'm already looking for a better alternative just to be safe. I've read enough micron comparison sheets to be more than a little convinced, but I'd appreciate opinions. I'm not sure if it makes any clearance differences but I have a 93 f350 4wd with about a 4 inch lift. Thanks in advance for the help!

I ran one for a while on a 1992 4x4 F250 and I had to do a little grinding to nake it fit. The DBL7405 used to be only $20 at FleetFilter but now $40 to $45 is the cheapest I've seen. I went back to running a smaller filter from Donaldson.

Edit: P550371 is the Donaldosn filter I've been running for a few years now--usually get 'em for about $20/each.

I remote mounted one on my truck, I also have a bypass filter. Up to 17qt capacity overall and oil was still really good at 8000 miles when I sent a sample to blackstone. I've still been changing it every 5k miles, but it certainly helps keep the oil cleaner looking so can't hurt the engine. That being said, not sure if I'd go through that project again either.

I'm curious which oil you were running.

17qts of synthetic sounds a little expensive but nice to know your sample came back okay after 8k. I only drive about 9k-10k per year so the notion of just an annual oil change would be convenient.

I'm curious about your bypass setup. I've been trying to figure one out.
