I think I have an exhaust valve sticking. once it warms up good it starts huffing out the air intake. Is there an oil additive that will help or am I pulling a head? Thanks
He did say exhaust valve. If it’s blowing out the intake, I’m betting it’s not a sticky intake valve,
That was kind of a guess going by what I've readHe did say exhaust valve.
Have a video?I think I have an exhaust valve sticking. once it warms up good it starts huffing out the air intake. Is there an oil additive that will help or am I pulling a head? Thanks
I didn’t have a video so I went out and warmed it up to take one. Wouldn’t make the noise so I took it for a drive and it never would do it again. I don’t get it Have a video?
I’m gonna drive it tomorrow when it’s warmer out. Hopefully it doesn’t do it. I’ll clean the cdr either way. Due for oil change too. I’m gonna check the compression alsoI have had it in the past that the CDR will get stuck and cause some weird thumping out the intake, maybe give it a quick clean and keep an eye on things? How to clean your CDR
Yes. If an exhaust valve doesn't open or doesn't open far enough, then the rest of the air/fuel mixture that's still in the cylinder after it should have been pushed out, will be forced out the intake valve. That was kind of a guess going by what I've read
Is that common with the IDIs? I read about it a lot on the tdi forum - suppose nothing is exempt at a certain point thoughcamshaft may be going flat
