Dude, this totally isn't a touchy subject. Now if you want to talk about oil preference or fuel pumps? That'll heat up a bit, but if you really want to see sparks, start talking about the glory's of WMO and how there's NO way it could really mess up a IP!!! That'll get em going! LoL!Black Dawg...you are probably right...maybe there is no 'Correct' way...
It is just my preference to not use the torch although out in the field and in the shop whatever works and lasts is all that matters.
I have just seen some folks heat 'em up cherry red before and I can't get that horror show outta my head.
I thought that I would bring it up and do a survey to see what Y'all thought about it.
I kinda knew it could be a touchy subject.
@XOLATEM this is a great example of asking a question that someone else wants to ask but doesn't for some reason. I'm guessing it was stick, but I don't know anything about stick welding.Just curious about what works in this situation...what did you use to weld it..? Mig or stick..? if mig...what kind of welder and wire and the settings you needed to make it hold.
If stick...ac or dc and which rod and what settings did you use.
I am just gathering data in case I have the same trouble.
Me too, on all points.By the way...I am only an advanced beginner at most everything in my mind. I like to gather info whenever and however I can.
My welds are ugly as home-made sin but they have all held so far.
