I didn't hunt down a specific year, I just took a walk through the ford section of the junkyard looking for clean grey seats
then took a close look at the seat frame, then walked over to my year p/u and took a look at that frame.
it look like it would work so I bought em

the donor looked like an old lady car, even though it was 12yrs old it looked new but was wrecked in the front end

they sit about an inch higher then the old seat, it's not a problem in fact it feels like better visibility

driver seat is even power adjustable, for a guy who grew up driving old jeeps it's like having a lexus

Nice looking seats. Did you have to cut a piece off the Explorer seats or the actual seat brackets?
Had to cut a little metal bracket off the explorer seat bottom, underneath. Maybe 30 seconds with the grinder.

Depending on your budget, you might consider something like this. These seats are from a Subaru Impreza RS..... I paid $25 CDN for each of them. Since the cabs on these trucks are fairly flat, it wasn't too difficult to fabricate brackets to fit. I'm guessing many auto wreckers will have bucket seats available for not too much, and if you can be a bit creative with flatbar, tubes and angles, you can make a pretty stable set of seat mounts that'll look good and function great! I'm still going to take these out and cap the tubes under the seats, as well as paint them, but they're each secured with 4 bolts, and the inner attachment points are secured with large washers under the floor and 2" wide flatbar ABOVE the floor). Of course, these seatbelts don't attach to the seats in any way, so in the event of an accident, the OEM seatbelt attachment points remain untouched (and solid!)

These seats feel great, by the way. Another option I was REALLY looking for was a blue velour bench from a Town Car, but alas, none was to be found!
Hope it helps

See the post above for pics...
I bought BMW 700 series seats off Craigslist for $60. A few hours of working the OEM bracket gave a perfect fit. I can't imagine my old Ford being any more comfortable.

Off topic, but you have a tiny steering wheel and a sweet shifter.

If you want to use Explorer seats or Bronco seats, find the seat pan that bolts to the floor that has the same bolt pattern as a bench seat. That seat pan will have a set of bolt holes that exactly fit the bucket seat bolt pattern and it becomes a no pain install.

You'll have to look through what pick and pull has to find one, but totally worth the effort. Seat belt attach all line up and everything.
Makes a 20 minute job to install nice comfortable bucket seats with console in the middle. or leave the space, your choice.

The seat pan bolt pattern may even accept Ford car bucket seats, I've not tried that.
