Here are a couple pictures. I am pointing to the part that is allowing the lever to move freely. It isn't latching into the grooves.
If its internal is there a part I can replace or just replace the entire tc?
Looked at the linkages, nothing has popped off. All the plastic bushings have been replaced with new when i put in the zf5.
I will try to take a picture tomorrow and put it up of the problem up
The shifter seems to be broken but I dont quite understand how exactly.
It won't go into any of the notches on the transmission for the gear selections (Plate on transmission where the 4wd lever connects to). It just passes all of them.
Basically it just flops back and forth on the floor...
I've searched the forums and have not found a definite answer so hopefully someone knows.
How long do I have to extend the rear drive shaft for the auto to zf5 swap.
My truck is a 4 door and I am extending the part before the carrier bearing nearest the transfer case on recommendation...
Alright Im stumped. The oil filter for the engine is behind the flywheel so I don't see that being a problem.
Its a good 2 to 3 inches off the engine but still wont drop. It is turned to the left (rotated) a good 4 inches as well.
Any ideas besides introducing it to the sawzall?!?:sly
Engine isn't seized up. I just always used the crankbolt to rotate the engine. I will try the handy screwdriver method tomorrow.
Thank you.
I will update once I get it off and/or blow it up
I finally got time and unbolted everything from the e4od and the engine. Crossmemeber, wires, 4X4 etc etc. the only thing that isn't undid is the torque converter bolts. Can't I still remove the trans with the torque converter bolted in? If not, does anyone know the socket size for the crank...
Thank you guys. I would have hated to get started and run into a problem midway. It will be a few weeks before I get everything torn apart and back together. trying to do this on my days off and still deal with the family folk. ;Sweet Anyway, if you need something off the truck just send me...
Will a transmission from a 1995 3/4 ton 7.3 power stroke work with a 89 1 ton 7.3 IDI? I am trying to do a auto to manual swap and found this great parts truck for sale for $1300.
ALSO...
If anyone needs anything off said 95 powerstroke, let me know. After I take the trans out I'm...
Thank you for the advice. It is much appreciated. I got the dash apart and the cable out. The bolt on top of the transfer case was rounded off, so I will have to try and get that off tomorrow somehow. Once i get it off and replace the drive gear and the speedo gear I should be back in business!
Alright will do. I am pulling the drive gear and replacing tomorrow hopefully. I will give an update so hopefully someone can learn from my mental stress! LOL
Its basically skipping second or hitting it and going immediately to 3. Then it jumps back and forth between OD and 3. I already adjusted the TPS to 1.01v unless its a different problem all together. (Torque Converter etc)
Ok, duh. It was a long day yesterday and I assumed I was expecting yall to guess! :D
Anyway, thank you for the replies.
Its a 1989 f350. 4 wheel drive with a stock E4OD trans. Both truck and trans has 170XXX miles on them. The speedo cable attaches to the VSS in the transfer case.
