Tailight and Brake Light Problem
Had a 91 in the shop that did the same thing. His turned out the connector at the back of the headlight switch was melted. The extra load from the trailer lights kept poping fuses.- Magoo

Update. Read everything I could find on this trans. The RABS issue kept nagging me. I have had trouble with the light coming on since I got the truck. Never thought too much about it. Turns out that the RABS needs the stop light bulb resistance to tell the computer that brakes are being applied...- Magoo

Ok. Narrowing down the mileage problem I have reported before. The truck runs down the road at 55mph and 2000rpm. I have counted the shifts many times and I get 4. Tonkadoctor, Ok. Guilty as charged. However, I drive like a grandma. Most of my toys are for off road slow go and the puller may top out at 30mph. But she saw 200 feet many times :hail :hail . Any way, I built a 79 crew cab years ago with a 5 speed and 7.3 na. She got great mileage. 22 was best...- Magoo

Some good points brought up. It does have a waste gate. And the guy who built the trans had a high dollar convertor installed specificaly for towing heavy loads. Never thought about that. As for the tires, the Cheby is running 33 also, and its the 700r4. All that said, was coming home yesterday...- Magoo

Mine is new. Got all known bugs worked out. The truck has 4.10 gears with 33 inch tires and have the speedo gear corectioin. I get 12mpg at best. And, it is slow moving off idel. In other words it has to build RPMs to get moving. Have a buddy who brought by his 83 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x with the 6.2...- Magoo

Fathers day fun, what did you accomplish
Took 3 days, but just finnished R&R of the service bed, shortend the lumber rack and installed a transfer fuel tank. The bed was held on by four 1/8 inch 2x angle welded and three were broke. I ended up making brakets and bolting the bed back on. The lumber rack was for a pickup bed so it was...- Magoo

BELT TENSIONER TROUBLE
Mel. Watch the tentioner at idel than give it some quick throttle snaps. Tentioner should rotate back and forth to keep the belt tight under exceleration. I noticed quite a bit of difference from the old to new.- Magoo

Shock is new to me. I can see where its a good idea. The 93 I did came with the enclosed spring. Ford sent me out the door with the open spring "after" I gave them the truck Identification number and production date. Not an interchangeable part. Had to go back to swap for the closed unit. BELT TENSIONER TROUBLE
Labor Guide gives .7 hr to change. Hardest part is rerouting that &*^*^% belt. The closed type used a 14mm socket the open a #40 torx. This is a good time to change the idler as well. The phenolic (sp) wheel wears weird and my expierence has been the wheel goes bad before the bearing...- Magoo

Just did it yesterday. The parts houses only list and sell the "open spring" design as far as I could fiqure. The 93 I did was enclosed spring. I went to ford and got the enclosed type. Enclosed Factory Ford # F4TZ*6B209*A $97.08 ($77.66) Open Spring Factory #F2TZ*6B209*D $66.17 ($52.94)- Magoo

Ok. Friends 7.3 is giving him fits. Starts great after 10 hours on the job. But in the morning and its not that cold, it starts, runs for 30 seconds and then dies.
