I have a tractor engine in my C30 a Perkins T6.354.4 its a road variant engine but its more of a tractor engine than a 6bt. The 354 has been used in a ton of Massey and white tractors and equipment over the years. I have a Clark 5 speed and a Spicer 3 speed brownie behind it but only using...
I would be swapping many different engines into a L8000 before a multi fuel. I like 3208s and they were a factroy option a dt466, 6v92T cummins L10 or a mack E7-250 would be long before my list for swaps into a medium duty chassis
Yah I have a m35a2c with a multifuel in it. They are a 7.8L engine they are way too huge for a pickup and stock they are only 135hp for the turbocharged engines. they are a diesel engine with different pistons and injectors that spray a stream of fuel into a hole/chamber in the piston then it...
I dump 12 quarts in with a powerjoke filter every time never had an issue. I overfill everything just a tad when I change oil (1/4-1/2 inch) I'll bet on any given engine you'd have to overfill a few inches at least before the crank was dipping in the oil.
Two ways I check for compression in a radiator is with the engine cold take the rad cap off to relieve any residual pressure put it back on and start the engine DOT NOT rev engine at all let it idle (revving the engine the water pump pressurizes the block therefore the radiator cap will allow...
I had a very similar issue couldn't figure it out I was messing with timing and all kinds of stuff and over looked my fuel filter since it was pretty new well I cleaned my rear tank out and made it work residual sediment clogged my fuel filter after acceleration and letting off it would miss...
I want to add that I learned a trick from brian and it backfired on me because I did it wrong doing this exact fix on mine I ended up using a buffed/polished butter knife to use as a mirror to align the timing marks for the ip gear. But the trick is to get some longer 5/16-16 bolts all thread...
The problem is the hose barb orientation is completely different on gm to ford/idi custom metal piping would probably have to be made which I've done stuff like that before maybe its feasible for him to do with this I've gone from 6.2 diesel to a ford idi radiator before was metal cross over...
Physically you won't see a faulty injector no such think as telling by carbon build up or wetness unless the tip is dripping. If your doing the IP injectors should be done too they say the ip and injectors have a 100k mile service life I know many many of them are way past that on originals...
Is it making chuffing or popping noises in the intake or exhaust listen with the air cleaner off. Next I want you to loosen injection lines at the injectors one at a time this is a manual cylinder cut out if/when you find one that changes or makes noise go away swap that injector with another...
I know this thread isn't brand new anymore but I bought a m35a2 (military 6x6 deuce and a half) last week and it has the Hercules multifuel turbo engine in it. They mounted the 2 canister oil filters vertically mounting the filter head at the bottom naturally within a hour or two after **** down...
Ofcourse deboss will down talk a idi but he put a junk ass 3126 Caterpillar in a aeronose. 3126 is a electronic heui engine and they are good for like 300hp or so and don't last for ever and they are a "disposable" engine just like a 6bt
High idle helps it warm up faster and get some heat in the cylinders to prevent cylinder washing. You should step on the throttle every time you cold start anyways I always push half to full throttle depending on temperature when cold starting as instructions can be found on the visor stepping...
I used to fill them then heard Caterpillar says not to some filters even have a picture of a X through oil being poured in and it makes sense a chunk of crap from transfer or where the oil came from or who knows can plug a oil passage or score though a bearing. I don't fill heavy truck filters...
