    look on the passenger side fender there should be a little metal box with 4 or 5 wires coming out.

    sorry, didn't see your last post. look at the alt. does it have a plug with 2 wires coming out?

    it's probly the regulator or the wiring between it and the alt. did you feel the regulator to see if it's hot too?

    what year is your truck,does it have the internally regulated alternator? if not feel the regulator. if the problem persists, try disconecting the plug on the alt. with the two wires coming out when you park it for the night and see if it still drains the batteries.

    i came accross one when i was looking for a tach. it said it was good for any idi, but i dunno if it would work for these engines. i googled diesel tach and it came up cause it has a built in digital tach. i can't remember the name of the company though.

    from what i've heard the 7.3's are already maxed out on bore size, trying to bore one out is asking for trouble.

    yeah, its better because your t-case out of the '79 should bolt right up to the zf tranny or the E4OD. the 700r4 (if you could find an adapter to bolt it to the block) would require an adapter to bolt to a ford t-case. i agree with angem and cat rebel, if you decide on an auto, go with the...

    yep, wether you go with the cummins or the idi you gotta cut the cross member, but as long as you weld it back up good not a problem. maybey tomorrow i'll take a couple of pics of mine. the fordcummins website also has pics of a mod'ed cross member. by the way, does the 79 have the marriage...
