Yep. Pulling the grill no issue, held in with zip ties. Cut grill loose, looked at problem, cable not broken, cable case slipped out of latch assy. Opened hood w/vice grips. In keeping with the theme, zip tied the cable to the latch, all good now Thanks ya' all for the help, fastest repair...- briankk

Got this truck in straight swap for an old Jeep I had. Was not a runner as bought, PO said he'd got it running some time in the past... Removed seized Mitsu starter, replaced with new DC unit, new batteries. Engine now cranks, with loud squeak at 1 rpm rate. Various POs had fiddled with the...- briankk

Hood release
Diesel compression gauge finally got here, so I can find out if my '87 F250 6.9 engine is only mildly ruined, or totally ruined. Tried to open the hood, release cable snapped somewhere. Is there a way to open the hood on these things when the cable busts? Help..- briankk

Was thinking if can remove air box with last 2 studs, would try to fangle an airfilter w/o the box. Who/what/where is Typ4, and what do they do to the turbo? I've heard that Banks won't answer questions about it. Hell, it's my experience that Banks won't even answer their phone.. I've had a...- briankk

Ah yes, getting someplace now.. I've got the roof off the thing and the filter out, the hose off from the inlet, and also from the CRD valve. Looking at whats going on, there are a couple of nuts in the box that take a 9/16 socket, removal trivial, but then, underneath are a couple more, one...- briankk

Nope, not a Sidewinder, the earlier version with no wastgate, lives ain a big cast alum. box. Not really a turbo in the same since that the Powerstroke is a turbo, but in the since that the airplane guys would call turbo compensation.. I bought this truck a few weeks ago. It was stored for several years with various problems. Now I'm down to fixing the leaky fuel return system on the intake manifold. Near as I can tell, I have to remove the Banks turbo manifold to get the fuel manifold off, so I can replace all those...- briankk
