Replaced the heater core. The truck has the high output heater and dealer installed AC so it made it especially difficult. It literally took all day. :(

I did absolutely nothing with my truck, except call the shop where it's has been since Mon. January 15th! (Had coolant leaking from both heads, long delay from a machine shop to even get to the heads to check them, then found out they were cracked, ordered two rebuilt heads, allegedly coming "today or Monday").
Grrr. -cuss

Started her up for the first time in two to three weeks. Confirmed the batteries are weak but still got it going [emoji1303]
Hauled some garbage off then made my daughter do a drive by so I could see what I thought about the straight pipe from a 'pedestrian' point of view.

Oil change, ran a small bead of RTC on the oil plug washer and checked all the fluids front to rear.

Threw a 7lb radiator cap on, keeping the 13lb cap in my parts box in the back..just incase something wacky happens with the 7lb cap, haven’t ran one before

Put LED bulbs behind the dash and got every interior bulb operational finally.

My daughter bought me a dash pad cover so installed that to.

Adjusted parking the break at the wire underneath the truck just a skosh. 2 clicks (1/2 way down) and she holds tight on a hill.

And threw an IH decal on the truck just for the hell of it, was a perfect day

More parts through the blast cabinet and powder coat in an effort to defeat our northern salt conditions. First two pics are before & after battery box support. All parts coated with zinc rich primer and weatherguard powder.

Initially bought Harbor Freight cabinet however it's been a long road of trial & error / lessons learned between what was bought vs what I'm now using. I replaced the gun, gloves, and glass configuration + added shop vac / water trap for the exhaust and double coalescing filter to eliminate moisture from incoming compressed air. Works pretty good now....... Mostly use coal slag (black beauty or black diamond) or glass bead.

What are you using for the window? I have the same cabinet. I run a shop vac with drywall bag on it and have a small air filter on the back for incoming air to keep the dust down. I replaced the gloves with something recommended on amazon. I have a blue HF water separator on the front for incoming air. I relplaced the gun with a Campbell Hausfield from tsc. It’s a lot better than the Hf gun but I feel like it could be improved. My biggest issue is the window. I’ve been using tear offs and they work okay but it’s a PITA to change them so you don’t change them often enough and you end up working blind in short order.

Each of the changes were improvements from the previous initiated by hours of frustration intermixed with liberal amounts of liquid brain fuel.

Glass: cabinet supplied with plexi, replaced with normal glass which also had a short service life, next I replaced normal glass with a piece of tempered glass which lasted longer however was significantly more expensive, last I replaced the glass with normal glass but added a piece of fine mesh screen space 1/4" "proud" of the glass surface. This acts as a deflector prior to the media colliding with glass. This combination has not been replaced since install.

Evacuation of dust: First simply attached shop vac, this resulted in failure of unit. Replaced shop vac with similar unit however also installed simple homemade water trap between cabinet & vac. Still in service, no complaints.

Removal of moisture from incoming compressed air: first tried normal water separator which simply allow too much moisture to be introduced to the gun. Constant clogging. Next added desiccant filter, short life. Finally removed both and installed CA Technologies (model 52-520) coalescing filter which eliminated all moisture.

Gloves & Gun: HF gloves & gun are terrible, bought new gloves & gun from TP Tools. These are great!

I hear ya. Lots of hours of head scratching, cussing, and other assorted thinking aids on mine as well. I will look into the gun. I flat wore out the HF one. I’m starting to thing that’s what’s going on with this one. I have put a ton of hours on mine between my buddy’s Porsche and my truck. Basically anything that would fit in the cabinet got blasted on both.

The drywall bags are a life saver on the shop vac. Not cheap but I won’t run mine on anything (except water) without it. It’s got to be 15 years old at this point. I sanded my floors in my house with it starched to the sander and got almost zero dust. Run it on my sander when doing body work. Almost no dust. Don’t even need a mask.

How fine of a mesh? And made of what? Did you make a frame and stretch it or is it stiff?

I’ll look into that gun.

Sorry for the hijack. I swear it’s very closely related to my truck.

LOL
