My truck was down on power and really smoking. My restriction gauge showed a slight restriction but not pulled all the way down.

I figured I would try a new filter. Holy cow did it make a huge difference! Power up smoke gone!

Old filter only had 4000 miles on it too.

Yeah, I hear the sensors wear out. But typically they say it's more clogged than it is. (Since the spring gets weak)
Is that a stock sensor?
Could maybe go one "size" smaller.

I've never used a air filter long enough to have one of those pressure sensors tell me my filters bad, most of what I heard Is those tend to show red when it's basically plugged solid?

Also, watch out for the foam "pre-filter". They are pretty tight..... like tight enough to not let ether through...... yes, you read that right, and this is not an "internet legend" story..... I was running the can of "Start Ya *******"!!

I've also read several times on here that foam can cause a filter minder to pop "plugged" on a brand new filter........ my foam pre-filter has earned a nice place on a shelf.......

What sensor is being discussed? Must be something not on a 6.9.

Not so much a sensor as a little restriction gauge that goes on the air filter housing. Usually screws into that threaded port on top. Clear tube with a indicator in it that basically changes color when the filter is overly restricted.

EDIT: These

Those air filter sensors are damn near useless. The shop i go for oil changes to used to base air filter replacement on that sensor when I would bring my 6.7 psd in for service. The sensor read good so they wouldn’t change filter. Then one day noticed a serious lack of power. Took airfilter off and it was full of caked on dirt & oil only after 2 months use and about 8k miles.
Now I replace airfilter every month or so since truck sees dusty roads every day.

If you have the one that is 25" h2o (135501-00825), get the one that is 20" h2o. (135501-00820)

Or just get a vacuum gauge that has the ability to remember maximum draw.
I trust that over those dinky filter minders

What is the "go to" filter? My truck has started blowing white smoke like crazy. I'd like to start with the easy stuff first.
