Leaking return system, ideas?

Why, the high pressure fuel injection clamps???


haha, because the Viton line that was in stock at O'Smiley's was a little bigger on the inner diameter. It was still snug on the plug, but the stock green clamps wouldn't go over the new line. So, I bought those clamps. I'm figuring all this out as I go, first timer and all.....you think they're a bad idea?

so you can get the length of the line perfect.

I believe that the consumer, in the end has ALL the power. That's why there are millions spent on ads to direct the mind of the consumer in a particular direction. Reducing the manufacturing base started decades ago, but moving plants overseas or across the boarder only works if people will still buy the stuff you make. A devious combination of marketing and financial stress will do nicely to drive the rabbit to the trap.

I'm into overkill...I'm fighting air-intrusion and need to know that everything is tight. Plus it seemed like it would be a whole lot easier to take the whole she-bang apart without messing with those green clamps. Just unscrew and re-screw..

Your Over Kill just might get you into trouble with air intrusion.

The return line ID has to be almost exactly the correct size (1/4" ID or 3/16" ID depending on which size cap is being used), the OD may vary in size when the hose is not purchased as a return line kit. There are three sizes of SPRING clamps (also known as constant tension clamps) for return line hose, Green, Red and Blue.

When the hose is pushed onto the cap (the cap has a small knob on the end) the hose should fit tight over that, actually making a small bump at that point, using a lube there is permissible, then the clamp (Spring Clamp) should be between the knob and the end of the hose. That is why the spring clamp is made narrow and fully encircles the hose, there is relatively no pressure in the return line hose (1 to 3 PSI). But if a clamp other than a spring clamp is used and doesn't fully encircle the hose, it will distort the hose and possibly introduce air intrusion. Atmospheric pressure @ 14.7 PSI can let air in where fluid pressure is Zero.
Remember, air is a lot thinner than diesel fluid. :D

The clamps in question...in the pic provided do encircle the hose e tirely.

My concern would be width a d level of clamping force causimg distortion.

I thought about that very thing...as soon as I went "off-trail" with not using all the parts in my kit, I raised the potential of CAUSING more problems than I fix. Like I said, I'm no expert on any of this BUT, the hose did fit snug when pressed over the barb AND those clamps are not uber-torqued....just tight enough so that they don't rotate or move but there's no distortion of the hose itself.

The only way to tell is to put it all on and run the truck....right?

1/8" NPT x 1/4" barb fitting out of the return orifice at top of IP- to #2 cylinder return line cap= 4 olives gone

back return line manifold (where line from IP returned to back of engine) deleted.
1/8" NPT T w/ 2- 1/4" NPT/barb for return lines.
and 1 5/16" barb to return to tank.

total of 5 olives deleted. all now AN fittings with steel braided fuel line
if turbo, use Russ(Typ4)'s or CDI turbo oil feed line = -4 AN??

now 7 olives deleted.

no more olives, except on my pizza!

Wow, that went by like perfume at a party...to fast for me to catch anything but a whiff!

I'll have to sit here and pick that one apart...but sound cool! Thanks.

BTW, how is the pizza in California? It took me a long time to find decent pie here in the south..(i'm from NY originally so i'm biased..)
