I'm just trying to understand what you are saying. The sockets posted are correct. Something is effed up with yours which is why we need pictures. Is the shoulder not fitting inside of the hub ? If so clean everything and figure out what it is catching on. It is very hard to help without pictures considering the sockets posted should work.

seems to be alot of people as of late that come on here asking for advice, not knowing a damn thing,
getting sound advice, and then retorting with "NO THATS WRONG"

what do you do when you lead a horse to water through the desert, and he dont drink?

there is no foul in inexperience, as long as you dont claim to know it all

Ahhh.....now me thinks...me might have this boned out in me skull...

If the CORRECT SOCKET does not fit into HUB...then HUB is too small...

If hub too small FRONT DIFF ICOULD BE a D44 model not A D50 as he is thinking....

This would be the only thing I can see...or...there are different parts or it is being done incorre tly

It is a Dana 50 TTB. And like I said I have physically gotten the sockets and tried. They did not fit. The only one I did not try is a 2 1/2" straight wall socket. Because nobody around me has one. Its pretty simple when you understand that they are sold by size and not application because the auto parts stores around me list at least 3 different sockets for the exact same application.

The issue is as I have stated that I actually bought all of the sockets mentioned and none of them fit. As I have also stated my local O'Reilly is ordering a new spindle nut and it will be at the store at 3:00EST. At which time they will measure the nut and test fit it to the sockets they have. This will for once and for all answer the question.

:yell:Like trying to tell him the tyre is round and he says it is square:rotflmao:rotflmao

Try reading what I posted. The sockets will not fit from the stores around me. I have tried the exact same socket that others have suggested. Literally the exact same part number. Its not that difficult to understand that they are wrong when I physically have tried them.

Let me see if I can get them. Hold on.

Thats a 10 1/4" style rear axle nut not a typical d50 nut thats a special locking nut similar to a rear axle.

The outter ring with tabs fqcing out towards you need to be depressed some to dissengage the lock mechanism IIRC or the spindle nut with ring on outside edge may work to depress those tabs

Well thats what it is right there. The pics dont lie. That is a Dana 50 TTB. Right where the grooves are is as far as the shouldered socket would go, because the shouldered socket is made for a Dana 60 on a Chevy. That 2 3/8" socket would not fit tooth for tooth. The slightly bigger one would just spin around in there.
