Ugh, I almost though I was going to CUT an access-hole in the bed because...the rear tank looked like it wouldn't clear my class3 hitch! Some outside rust (I'll sand and paint w/rustoleum) inside is like new-no sludge, muck etc.

I hope these line re-seal air tight!

The busted Shower-Head and the few little pieces...that's it!

I need these clips...one broke, hope a local parts house has them.

Question...so what if I shorten this black tube???

The clips you pictured in the third photo are easy enough to find or order at a decent parts store. The trick is to know to part number to ask for. You want Dorman 800-015. That comes with 6 clips---3 at 5/16" and 3 at 3/8". Picture below.

BTW > > > I'm not sure where the other end of that vent line went...any ideas ???

Hammerdown - Congrats on getti g the tank out! If I remember correctly, the end of that vent hose mounts to a clip you will find at the top of the frame cross member in front of the rear tank. The end of the vent hose on my truck had a goofy looking little cap that inserted into the hose. Look for that metal sping clip hanging out somewhere on that cross member, or perhaps on the drivers sdie frame rail.

Thanks, I needed a stiff-drink after that job.:drunk:
Hope the re-installation process goes better.
I had to leave that large filler hose attached to the tank, that made it come out towards the passenger side, no way of getting to the hose-clamp.
And of-course, I busted one of those clips and ripped-out the other end of that darn vent-hose...and I HOPE I didn't fock-up the plug end for the sender > I almost ripped out those wires too :frustrate

The worst part was dealing with flakes of RUST falling down on me...Grrrrrrr I HATE FOCKING RUST!

For a temp fix, you can use zip ties in place of those clips. That is if you really want the clips.

Zip ties will hold up just fine.

Vent line cap is a Try wing piece that slips in the end allowing air to vent in/out of tank.

That tube in the filler neck is likely going to be a real ***** to remove it can be done, however have all parts needed for Filler vent mod prior to that fun!

Yer doing fine!

I understand the small hose (still attached to the tank) acts as a vent...but I accidentally ripped it out of where ever the other end attached to > shortly, I'm going to craw under that rusty mess to have a look.

Oh no, I'm not interested in doing the "vent mod"...I was just wondering what negative effects (if any) there would be if I cut that black hose shorter or, twisting it out :sly

I just got off the phone with a Gates tech and became educated about "SUBMERSIBLE" fuel hose > SAE 30R7 & SAE 30R9 will disintegrate (in short time). Something about being in and out of fuel kills it quick.

The hose recommended from Gates is designed to be "submerged" in gas & diesel AND also exposed to air too!
Part # SAE30R10

Hoping my local Nappa has it > their part # for 1-foot H213

That stuff ain't cheap Ray but that's what I've used on several repairs that I've done over the past couple years.

If you did any damage...ya ripped a short piece of rubber hose off and left the cap NO BIG DEAL, I'll see if I can find some pics or go take a pic of where that damn clip would be for ya!

Well from my perspective I've completely gutted my filler neck and honestly it flows better but when it burps...I wear it, so I stand aside now!

I'll be doing a TANK vent mod in time. need to get one more part well two...got dual tanks...before I do.

good luck painting and so forth.

I'm not really liking the sound of this, since my fuel lines, tanks to stock filter, are Goodyear SAE 30R7. That's not what is in the tanks as a dip tube, but all lines outside the tanks. Mine are not "in and out of fuel", but rather have fuel flowing through them, and open air on the outside.

Am I in imminent danger of those fuel lines disintegrating?
