Get the code from the trim tag and post it up, me or another member will decode the gear's for you.. But the 3spd auto is definatly not going to help you make feul mileage, mite think of a zf5 swap..

Easiest way to tell is count the number of pan bolts

C6 has 17
E4OD has 20

Every 88 diesel i've ever seen has the C6, and every gas truck either has the C6 or AOD.. I think the E4OD was 1989-up but not 100% sure..

89 was the start of e4od. I have a late 88 with a c6

Its a c6 six I know that but I drive 40 MPH to work which is 11 miles away its a nice easy speed to drive for the truck just don't see where the diesel goes

And now you know why you were able to trade an $1100 Toyota for it!

Go taller with the tires to start. That will lower the rpms on the highway.

I got 15 thats with a banks power pack and 3" exhaust.
